Drawing-with

These drawings and video respond to the key themes of belonging, recovery, resilience and regeneration through drawing-with trees that were damaged in reserve land by the Sarabah bushfire.

I have walked this place many times; before and after the bushfire. I adopted a walking approach to draw in-place that positioned the trees and myself within the process of creating the drawing.

The marks made on paper are an intra-action with the more-than-human as I traverse the reserve, and as the trees and I meet to make the marks on paper. Through this becoming there is a pedagogy of intra-action and regenerative drawing-with between
the more-than-human and the human.

I acknowledge and pay deep respect to the traditional custodians of the land on which I walk and draw. This land always was and always will be Wangerriburra land.

We acknowledge and pay deep respect to the traditional owners of the land on which we meet.We acknowledge the Birrinburra and Wangeriburra people. We acknowledge the Mununjali, Bullongin, Kombumerri, Gugingin and other clans and families within the Yugambeh group. We acknowledge and pay respect to the elders past, present and emerging and all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples here today. We pay our respects to the waterways, skies and land - our mother.
